SERVICE UPDATE

ANALYZE Provides Polymer Additive Analyses by Microwave Assisted Extraction followed by GC-MS and LC-UV-MS

For nearly 25 years, ANALYZE has been providing polymer additive package analyses in a wide range of polymer formulations. Recently, a CEM Microwave Assisted Extractor has been acquired to reduce the time required to obtain complete extraction of additives from high molecular weight HDPE, crosslinked polyethylene and other difficult to extract polymer systems. The automated extraction system reduces the amount of hands-on analyst time required and increases throughput by allowing batches of 14 samples to be done together. Compared to the ‘classical’ extraction method of dissolution and reprecipitation, the shortened time at high temperature provides a significant reduction in the oxidation of hindered phenols and other anti-oxidant additives. The use of small volumes of extraction solvent also provides added efficiency in sample preparation and reduced sample degradation.

The solvent extract is analyzed by a combination of gas chromatography – mass spectroscopy and liquid chromatography with both UV and MS detection.

The microwave unit can also be used to provide heat for chemical reactions done in 100 ml Teflon and glass lined vessels.

ANALYZE Provides TSNA Analyses in Smokeless Tobacco Products by LC-MS-MS

Given the concern over residues of tobacco specific nitrosoamines (TSNA’s) in smokeless devices (e.g., e-cigs, inhalers), ANALYZE now offers analytical services for the detection and quantitation of these compounds by LC-MS/MS analyses in both solution and the vapor phase. The quantitation of nicotine and other components of smokeless cigarette products are also performed by GC-MS and/or LC-MS analyses.

INSTRUMENTATION INVESTMENT UPDATE

ANALYZE Invests in New Laboratory Instrumentation – Ion Chromatography

ANALYZE has upgraded its ion chromatography capability with the acquisition of a Dionex ICS-2000 RF Ion Chromatography System. The ICS-2000 RFIC is a reagent-free system that electrolytically generates eluents suitable for the separation of cations and anions on ion exchange columns which are then detected by conductivity with electrolytic suppression. This instrument is used for the routine detection of cations and anions at the low ppb level.

ANALYZE PROTOTYPE/MARKET TEST MANUFACTURING

ANALYZE specializes in the manufacture of small batches (1 to 500 gal) of formulated specialty chemical products. These small batch sizes are suitable for production of value added products that are sold in small container sizes or incorporated as a minor component in a finished product (e.g., a thin coating on a surface) or developing R&D prototypes and manufacturing processes or the testing market acceptance before large scale production commences. While the outsourcing of manufactured products is desired to reduce costs, the volume required excludes many companies from considering this route until sufficient volume has been developed. ANALYZE will help you get from “here to there” with our specialized manufacturing services.

EQUIPMENT INVESTMENT UPDATE

Automated Filling Line

ANALYZE's capability to efficiently and cost effectively fill client orders for water-based specialty products which have a wide range of viscosities has been increased dramatically with the delivery of a KAPS-ALL automated filling line. This multi-component line has a bottle unscrambler, ten-head filling station, capping machine, labeling station and inkjet coder. This line fills one oz to one gal containers. All bottles are dated and batch coded for traceability. Our packaging area also has the capability for shrink wrap and security sealing.
